NEW STUDENT REQUESTS
Please contact me if you are interested in learning more about my services. Typically, I will set up an initial evaluation for your child to determine their current reading/math level and areas where they need learning support. From there, we create a learning plan for your child. Full evaluations tend to range from $125 -$150 depending on the length of the assessment, scoring, and creating an assessment report.
PRICING
My base rate for one-on-one instruction is $50 -$65 per hour, per student. The specific pricing for a teaching session will be quoted on a case-by-case basis depending on whether my services include any of the following:
- Preparing specialized instructional plans
- Providing and correcting take-home work (homework)
- Teaching combined sessions for sibling groups at different levels
In small groups and learning pods, I can offer a discounted hourly rate depending on the size of the group.
If I travel to your home to deliver my teaching services, we will discuss an adjusted hourly rate to offset the travel costs. I reserve the right to not accept new students if your location is too far for me to travel.
PAYMENT
I accept payments in the forms of cash, personal check, and Venmo. All payments are due the day of service. I will send reminder invoices weekly in case you forget to submit payment.
VACATIONS & HOLIDAYS
I generally follow the local school schedule vacation days and holidays with my students.
ABSENSES
Please provide at least 24 hours notice if your child will miss a one-on-one or learning pod session. I request at least two weeks’ notice if your child will miss a session due to vacation, etc. Make-up sessions will be offered if possible.
COLLABORATION WITH SCHOOLS AND TEACHERS
At parent’s request, I am happy to contact your child’s teacher to get input on the best approach to helping your student succeed. This can also include gathering information about the student’s assignments, homework, projects, and test results.
For homeschooling students, at parent’s request, I will communicate and collaborate with their assigned supervising teacher (through Charter school, etc.) to establish a team approach to the student’s education plan and progress.
CHARTER SCHOOL AFFILIATIONS
I am a certified vendor with both Compass Charter School and Heartwood Charter School.
CURRICULUMS AND RESOURCES
Homeschooling Curriculum:
Choosing the right curriculum for your child is both personal and very important. I have experience using several K-8 curriculums and can offer my guidance in helping choose the right curriculum for your child and your family. Some of the language arts curriculum choices I have worked with include: Wonders, Primary Phonics, All About Reading/Spelling, Essentials In Writing, Charge Into Reading, Jolly Phonics, Explode the Code, Read Naturally, Learning Without Tears, 180 Days Homeschooling Curriculum, PhonicBooks, Evan-Moor, and Spectrum. Math curriculums I have used include: The Good and the Beautiful, 180 Days of Math, My Math, Saxon, Spectrum, and Evan-Moor.
My instructional sessions include a variety of hands-on resources depending on my students’ goals and learning type. I like to incorporate learning manipulatives including white boards, blocks, tiles, felts, magnets, and bean bags. I like to end our sessions with an educational game that motivates and adds some much-deserved excitement. I love to reward my students with incentives such as stickers and prizes.
