LEARNING SUPPORT FOR Transitional kindergarten THROUGH 6TH GRADE

positive & encouraging

My Programs Are Tailored To help your child thrive

I create individualized lessons that provide a variety of engaging learning activities in order to accommodate different modalities of learning. My style of teaching emphasizes that there is no “one size fits all” model to learning.  I always want to create a learning environment that is positive, and offers a comfortable space for students to grow as learners. It is essential that students know that mistakes are part of the learning process and that their effort and participation is vital to successful learning. Every child learns at their own rate and has their own learning style. I make sure that my lessons are  challenging so that children are growing as students, but at the same time, appropriate and attainable for achieving academic success. Witnessing the journey of my students gain the  confidence they need to achieve their goals is the best part of my job!

My philosophy is a “team approach” which centers on the importance of collaboration between myself, teachers, and parents working together to guide each child’s education in a positive and meaningful way. My door is always open, as communication is key to offering the best support for your child.

Here are the key elements of my reading and math instructional programs:

Structured Literacy Instruction
Standard and Evidence-Based Math Instruction
General Study Habits and Skills

ONE-ON-ONE INSTRUCTION

In-home tutoring

I offer individualized, engaging instruction in all subjects, with special emphasis on reading and math. A typical session is one hour, but I accommodate 1.5 to 2 hour sessions.  I like to use a positive approach, including incentives and fun rewards for student’s efforts and achievements.

hOMEsCHOOL tEACHING

In-home teaching service

I help support local homeschooling families by providing their children with literacy and math instruction, guiding homeschooling pods, and offering evaluations in order to help establish benchmarks and academic goals.  These sessions can range from 1 hour per week to half-day sessions multiple times per week. Parents need to know that they have support in the homeschooling process. I love to help guide and assist parents as they navigate the best path for their child.

SMALL GROUPS & LEARNING PODS

In-home sessions

For small groups of students that are at similar grade levels, a learning pod can be an excellent way to provide personalize instruction in a more socially enriched learning environment.   In these sessions, we will do both group and individual assignments.  We will learn together through reading and math exercise, hands-on activities, and educational games.   Typically, these learning pods will meet 2-3 times per week for 2-3 hours.  These sessions are a great way to support social and emotional well-being.
